Our Pre-K program is designed around the whole child. Every day, children build the skills they’ll need for kindergarten and beyond; not through drills or worksheets, but through play, real-world experiences, and meaningful relationships. Academics are woven into daily life, and every child is met where they are.
We start here, because everything else grows from it. Children learn to recognize their feelings, show empathy, take turns, and work through conflicts with support. Daily routines build the confidence to separate calmly, follow directions, and connect with peers and adults. Children also practice the practical skills that matter: dressing themselves, managing their belongings, and cleaning up. The pride that comes from doing something on your own is something we celebrate every day.
Children develop a love of language through stories, conversation, songs, and play. We build letter recognition, letter-sound connections, rhyming, and an understanding of words like above, below, next to, and inside, all in ways that feel natural and fun. Fine motor work, including pencil grip, cutting, drawing, and writing their name, builds the foundation for reading and writing readiness.
Math is everywhere in our classroom. Children count, sort, compare, and find patterns through hands-on exploration. Cooking is a favorite: measuring ingredients and following steps brings math and real-world thinking together in a way kids genuinely love. Building and experimenting round it out: children test ideas, figure out how things work, and learn that trying is always worth it.
Sand, water, and playdough aren’t just fun; they build focus, body awareness, and hand strength. These experiences help children learn to manage their energy and stay engaged, which matters just as much as any academic skill.
Tzedakah, kindness, and community are woven into everyday life. Children practice giving, sharing, and showing up for one another, developing empathy, gratitude, and a sense of responsibility to themselves and the world around them.
No two children learn the same way, and we don’t expect them to. Every child receives the support, enrichment, and encouragement they need, and the chance to feel genuinely proud of who they’re becoming. Our Child & Family Development Specialist is also here as a resource for families, offering guidance and support to help every child thrive inside the classroom and beyond.
By the end of Pre-K, children leave with a strong foundation in early literacy and math, the ability to follow directions and engage in structured learning, and the habits that help them keep going when something feels hard. Just as importantly, they leave knowing how to be a friend, ask for help, and feel proud of what they can do.
