At JCYS Buffalo Grove, we’ll work with you to find a program that fits your family’s schedule. Want only Monday and Thursday? Only Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday? Not a problem – we’re happy to accommodate any combination of days.
Our programming is based on Creative Curriculum, a nationally normed, research-based preschool curriculum aligned with Illinois Early Learning Standards. Creative Curriculum emphasizes learning through exploration and discovery. Teachers communicate responsively and build individual supportive relationships by encouraging healthy emotional expression in each child. Children build competence and trust through developmentally appropriate challenges and constructive, purposeful play. All our activities are designed to foster children’s social and emotional skills, physical development, and academic potential.
JCYS programs are open to families of every faith. Children at our family centers learn about Jewish traditions and culture through inclusive celebrations. We celebrate Shabbat (the Jewish sabbath) as a community every Friday. Every week, we send one child home with a Shabbat bag that includes a challah, wine glass, and instructions for celebrating the holiday at home. We also celebrate Shabbat Under the Stars twice a year and host a grandparents’ Shabbat. Throughout the year, we organize family events around major Jewish holidays, including Sukkah parties, Hanukkah concerts, a Purim party, and Passover Seders. Tzedakah projects also help connect our children and families to Jewish life and our center community.
At JCYS Buffalo Grove we strive to support and engage families in everything we do. We invite families to be a part of their children’s educations through the Room Parent Club, family holiday events, and our Mystery Reader and All About Me programs.
We are also involved in our community – we collaborate with the Vernon Hills Public Library and collect honey for the Ark. We also host visits from local fire safety officers, therapy dogs, doctors, and dentists, enhancing our curriculum while introducing children to experts from their own community.
