Sunflower Day Camp
Sunflower Camp will be held from July 20 – August 14, with adapted programs to ensure the safety of our staff, campers, and their families. We’re working to create a place of exploration and delight for children to enjoy – even if the programming looks different from our traditional camp activities. Our summer parent orientation via Zoom on Tuesday, July 14 at 5:00 pm.
Sunflower Day Camp at JCYS Lutz Family Center offers something sensational for all our young campers with weekly themes, exciting adventures, and lots of messy fun.
Summer 2020 Schedule
- Specials (10:00 am – 11:30 am)
Each day campers will get to experience 1 of 5 camp specials. Included will be art, science, music/games, drama/storytelling, and sprinkler play. - Thematic Activities (9:00 am – 12:00 pm)
Get ready for an action-packed rug time! Our teachers will be reading stories, singing songs, and participating in small group games. Centers will give children one-on-one attention and provide skill-building activities that center around our theme of the week. - Meals & Rest Time (9:30 am – 10:00 am; 12:20 pm – 12:55 pm; 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm)
- Half-day campers will be served a morning snack.
- Half-day with Lunch Bunch campers will enjoy a morning snack and lunch.
- Full-day campers will receive a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
- Rest time will occur between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Sunflower Day Camp is for the Whole Family
Just like our school-year programs at JCYS Highland Park, Sunflower Day Camp is really a camp for the whole family. Camp kicks off with Parent Orientation night and parents are always welcome at our Parent Swim program observations and our camp party at the Lil’. We send home weekly newsletters from each group of campers and a bi-weekly all-camp newsletter to keep parents updated on all camp happenings. Camp photos will be also be posted daily through Kaymbu, our electronic communication site.
Experienced Program Staff
Sunflower Day Camp is led by the same early childhood teachers who lead classrooms at JCYS Highland Park during the school year. Children love seeing the familiar faces of the teachers they know, and our experienced staff members – including our full-time Child and Family Development Specialist – have the know-how to guide children through any developmental challenges and fully support parents throughout the summer. Sunflower campers also have a great time with our Counselors-In-Training, trained assistants in grades 8-10 who help our full-time staff, act as good role models for our younger campers, and ease pick-up and drop-off transitions.

Registration is now open!
In order to complete your registration, you must provide a non-refundable and non-transferrable deposit. Deposits for infant care, toddler care, and preschool are $250; for all other programs, they are $150. Deposits will be applied to the final program invoice or forfeited with early withdrawal.
