Buffalo Grove Pre-K

Ready for What's Next

A Reggio-inspired classroom where curiosity, community, and Jewish values come together.

Our Pre-K program at JCYS Buffalo Grove is built around a simple belief: children learn best when they feel capable, curious, and connected. Rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we follow children’s interests, build on their ideas, and make every day genuinely meaningful.

Learning by Doing

We see every child as a capable, confident learner with ideas worth pursuing. Children lead their own investigations, work on collaborative projects, and move through a classroom designed to spark curiosity at every turn. Teachers build from children’s interests, helping them problem-solve and grow into independent learners.

Social-Emotional Learning & Community

Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Children learn to express their ideas, listen to others, and work through challenges together. We focus on building a classroom community where every child feels seen, valued, and ready to take on something new.

Skills That Stick

Literacy, math, and language development are woven into everyday life through play, conversation, and hands-on projects. Children build the focus, fine motor skills, and early reading and writing readiness they need, at a pace that’s right for them. Our Child and Family Development Specialist is also here as a resource for children, teachers, and families, offering guidance and support to help every child thrive in the classroom and beyond.

Jewish Value & Judaic Life

Jewish values and traditions are part of our daily rhythm; not a separate subject, but a natural part of how we live and learn together. Children explore kindness, responsibility, and community through holidays, everyday moments, and experiences that bring Jewish identity to life.

Kindergarten Readiness

Children leave Pre-K with strong early literacy and math skills, the ability to engage in structured learning, and the confidence to make friends, ask for help, and keep going when something feels hard. Most importantly, they leave loving learning and that stays with them long after they walk out the door.
