Kinder Concepts is a supplemental enrichment program that enhances our school’s overall approach to kindergarten readiness for children ages 4 & up. Guided by four big questions, children have opportunities to explore big ideas, make connections, and dive deeper into the topics that spark their curiosity.
Who am I? Through conversations, storytelling, art, and shared experiences, children explore identity, family, friendships, culture, and community while developing a stronger sense of self and belonging.
Where am I? From home and school to neighborhoods, cities, nature, and the wider world, children discover how they fit into the communities and environments around them.
How do we get there? Maps, landmarks, movement, transportation, and navigation become tools for exploring how people connect with places and one another.
How is it made? Through building, designing, creating, and investigating materials, children gain a deeper understanding of how things are constructed, grown, and transformed.
As interests emerge, children have opportunities to connect ideas, build on existing skills, and engage with learning in new and meaningful ways. Every group’s experience is different because each journey is shaped by the questions, ideas, and discoveries that unfold along the way.

If you have already registered for the 2026-27 School Year and would like to register for Kinder Concepts, please email Lane Hussey at lhussey@jcys.org.
If you are a new family registering, please click here. You can add Kinder Concepts to your child’s schedule when you register.
Families need to be enrolled for at least three days unless you are a part-time, two-day family. There are no make-up or trade days if your child is absent or if JCYS is closed for any reason.
