As the CFO of JCYS, Sonya is thrilled to leverage her comprehensive experience and knowledge to support an agency dedicated to Jewish identity and education. Having been a student of Solomon Schecter and a long-time member and camper at Young Judaea, Jewish education and camping have played a significant role in her life.

Sonya’s finance career began in public accounting, focusing on audit and tax, before she joined the private sector as an Assistant Controller and Finance Manager at various companies. Her career path shifted when she ventured into the non-profit sector. She finds working with mission-based organizations rather than profit-focused entities deeply fulfilling.

Sonya holds a BA from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and an MSA from Loyola University. Originally from Evanston, she now resides in Lincoln Square with her husband and their daughter, who attends JCYS Lincoln Square Ravenswood and absolutely loves it. Witnessing her daughter’s joy and the friendships she’s formed at JCYS is truly heartwarming.
