With growth comes the need for change.
As JCYS grows, the families that we serve also grow. Currently serving over 400 families, the Michael R. Lutz Family Center continues to thrive and their waitlists are growing. As one of the most reputable preschools in Chicago, the demand for enrollment at JCYS’ only Chicago-based Family Center increases each year. Families are choosing to stay within the city limits and the demand for early childhood education is on the rise.
Additionally, a number of young Jewish families are moving toward Chicago’s western neighborhoods, where a strong Jewish infrastructure has yet to be established. JCYS is acutely aware that being close to a synagogue, school or childcare center is critically important to these families, and see an opportunity within the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods. An additional assessment of this current landscape also shows a lack of basic childcare options, creating the perfect location for JCYS to establish another Family Center to accommodate the growing need for early childhood education. After careful consideration, it was determined that an additional JCYS Family Center near the bustling intersection of North and Hoyne Avenues would flourish and successfully serve the educational, developmental and recreational needs of the region.
Through a lead gift from the Michael and Karyn Lutz Family Foundation, JCYS has begun the process of a larger capital campaign in order to solidify the agency’s roots in Chicago. Your gift will help make our plans a reality.
