Lillian L. Lutz Recreation Center
Swim & Tennis Lessons and Adult Classes

Get in on all the action The Lil’ has to offer!

Swim Lessons

The Lil’s family friendly atmosphere is the perfect place for children of all swimming levels to improve their stroke.  Building on our reputation for quality early childhood education at JCYS Family Centers, our experienced, certified swim instructors tailor lessons to each individual child’s skill and comfort level.  Our private and semi-private swim lessons adhere to the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program.

Our teaching pool features two shallow ends (one of which is only two feet deep!), to ensure safety and increase confidence for even the littlest swimmer, and is heated to make sure that cold feet don’t stop us from trying new things! Register for lessons by visiting the Lil’ front desk

Tennis & Cardio Classes

The Lil’ is excited to welcome new head tennis pro, Kim Kehl to our Max Davidson Tennis Courts! Coach Kim has a passion for tennis and unmatched energy. He has years of experience developing Quick Start tennis programs at the Park District of Highland Park and Northbrook Racquet Club and has taught group, private and cardio tennis classes to adults and children since 2003. In addition to offering private, group and cardio classes at The Lil’, Coach Kim leads the tennis program at Jon  Vegosen Champ Camp.

To register for a tennis class or for more information about Coach Kim, visit, or contact him directly at (847) 331-4156 or

Aqua Zumba

Known at The Lil’ as our Zumba Pool Party, Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout.  Splash, stretch and twist toward a challenging water-based workout that cools you off while your muscles heat up.  Cardio-conditioning, body-toning – and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief – Aqua Zumba integrates Zumba philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines.

Led by Melissa Kerpel, licensed in AFAA Group Exercise, CPR and Zumba instruction; this group meets on Sundays from 9:45 – 10:30 am (weather permitting).  For more information, contact Melissa at or (312) 961-8484.
