Jon Vegosen Champ Camp focuses on health and fitness through tennis and swim lessons, cooking lessons, sports and games, arts and crafts, theater and dance, and more!
Campers take advantage of the Lillian L. Lutz Recreation Center, including: two Max Davidson tennis courts, a sports court, indoor club house, outdoor picnic area and GaGa pit!

Starting at 12:15 pm, Champ Camp is perfect for children attending morning summer school or anyone whose schedule makes a traditional summer camp less than optimal.

District 112 provides daily transportation from the Oak Terrace summer school program to Champ Camp.

Tennis Instruction
Perfect for children that are just learning to pick up a racket and wanting to learn more, Champ Camp counselors use Ten and Under Tennis instruction, the United States Tennis Association’s preferred method of beginner tennis instruction.

Aided by appropriately sized rackets, four different types of tennis balls, a reduced court size and a shorter net, participants develop a foundation of skills in an approachable and less intimidating way.

Swim Lessons
In the Lil’s state-of-the-art swimming pool, campers enjoy daily Red Cross Learn-to-Swim lessons followed by free swim.  With two shallow ends – one of which is only two feet deep – the Lil’ is perfect for beginning swimmers.

Nurture Cooking Lessons
Champ Camp has partnered with Nurture, a local nonprofit organization, to provide fun and tasty, hands-on cooking lessons.  This programs helps campers build a strong foundation of healthy habits and a love of nutrition, and equips them with the tools and resources needed to prepare healthy and delicious meals at home!

Fun Fridays
Our Friday Fun Days end each week with a burst of energy and spontaneity!  Campers look forward to all-camp activities like Olympics and College Wars, designed to optimize camp spirit, camaraderie and teamwork.
