Get ready for a year-round adventure at Camp Henry Horner!  From summer overnight and day camp programs to outdoor education, adventure education, disability camping and respites, and conference retreats, Camp Henry Horner’s programs focus on providing a fun and enriching experience by encouraging participation in a wide variety of new and exciting learning opportunities. Come experience our beautiful lake,  high ropes course and zip line, sports, arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, cooking, heated pool, and numerous outdoor and nature activities.

Our Campus

Home to 180 beautiful wooded acres on the shores of Wooster Lake in Ingleside, Illinois – just an hour outside of Chicago and Milwaukee – Camp  Henry Horner features:

Outdoor Education  With three miles of trails for biking, running or nature walks, classes on geocaching, outdoor cooking programs, gardening, campfires and numerous outdoor education programs, your camper will be a wilderness expert.

Sports, sports and more sports  With tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields, an archery range, and sports equipment for anything else you can imagine (even our 9 hole disc golf course!), Camp Henry Horner encourages teamwork and active participation through a variety of athletic activities.

Fine Arts  Not everyone finds their niche on the sports field. For that reason, Camp Henry Horner offers a plethora of fine art opportunities through dance, theater and drama, musical instruments and singing, as well as traditional arts and crafts activities.

Wooster Lake  Campers can pick from a variety of interactive lake activities. from canoes, paddleboats, kayaks, rowboats, sailing, fishing, swimming, and water inflatables to reach even higher peaks of water fun.

Heated Outdoor Pool  Daily swim lessons for K-4th Grade are offered at Camp Henry Horner, along with free swim for each age group daily. To ensure every camper that enters the pools is safe, we have a team of American Red Cross certified lifeguards to oversee all the water fun!

Glickman High Sierra Adventure Center  The Glickman High Sierra Adventure Center keeps even the most adventurous camper on their toes – literally!  Our premier high ropes course features 11 exciting and challenging elements, including climbing wall and zip line.  our ever-expanding teams course, sometimes called low ropes, is perfect for groups looking to work on team building, communication, and cooperation. Groups from 3rd Grade on up through corporate groups use this course to work on achieving shared goals!




Our Staff

Our summer staff of 200 professional and talented role models from around the world are here to provide the highest level of care for each and every camper. Our extremely skilled team includes day and overnight counselors, program specialists, health center staff and two camp directors.

Graham has a Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration from Aurora University, and has extensive experience in camping and recreation from his years as a day camp director for Metropolitan Family Services, director of camping services for YMCA of McHenry County, and as a senior program director for the Sage YMCA in Crystal Lake.

Health Care Staff   Camp Henry Horner’s health center is managed by health care professionals, who have their CNA and nursing licenses from accredited programs as well as First Aid and CPR.

Counselors  Our diverse group of counselors come from all over the world and have  backgrounds in social work, education and recreation. At Camp Henry Horner, we ensure every camper receives the care and support they need by upholding a 1:7 counselor camper ratio.

Program Specialists  Staff from around the world lead the various programs around Camp Henry Horner:  arts and crafts, nature education, dance, drama, music, sports, cooking, adventure activities at our Glickman High Sierra Adventure Center, and more!  All program specialists have an educational background and experience in their particular program field.


ACA Accredited

At Camp Henry Horner we maintain the highest standards regarding program safety and quality. As an American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited Camp, all our staff members receive ACA training and adhere to all ACA guidelines and standards.
